Day 256 of the 365 to 40 project. I’ve been trying to get a photo of the full moon for literally months now but each time the weather has thwarted me, but not tonight! Unfortunately the path of the rising moon wasn’t going to pass any other items of interest so settled for the somewhat clichéd “moon by itself in the middle” but I’m still fairly happy with it. Even using the 600mm telephoto lens this is after I cropped a reasonable amount of empty space around the moon. Many people are usually disappointed when they take photos of the moon and realise how small it really is against what in their minds eye thought it is. As a result you see a lot of artificially increased in size moon shots to make them look far more dramatic than they really are.
